Where are we

We are located at 3 Albert Road, Renfrew, PA4 8ET

What We Believe

We are a New Testament-based Evangelical Church located in Renfrew, Scotland.

We have a clear list of doctrines and practices and these are:

Faith and Beliefs
  • The divine inspiration, authority and sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures
  • The trinity of the Godhead, necessarily including the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ equally with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ as a propitiation for the remission of sins.
  • The fall of man and his consequent depravity, necessitating the Holy Spirit's work in regeneration and sanctification.
  • The justification of the sinner before God by faith in Christ alone.
  • That at death, the soul of man does not cease to exist or become unconscious.
  • That the dead in will be raised, either to life or condemnation.
  • That the blessedness of the righteous and the punishment of the unrighteous will be alike eternal.

Practises
  • The immersion of believers on their personal confession of their faith in Christ
  • Observance of the Lord's Supper on the first day of each week.
  • The meetings for worship shall be under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in order to exercise the Assembly in all true gifts, for edification, subject to the authority of God.

Statement of Faith

In the New Testament, the Lord gives direction as to what He expects of His people.

With this in mind, the Church leadership has drawn up the following Mission Statement:
  • to obey the Lord in His command to 'Go and make disciples of all nations...', in line with the Great Commission, found in Matthew Chapter 28 verses 19 and 20.
  • to recognise that one of our main responsibilities as Christians is to worship and glorify God in our daily living, and as part of the Christian Church.
  • to encourage one another in the Christian faith; by meeting together, by prayer, by bible study and by practical support.
  • to recognise that, as well as prayerful support, Christian workers, whether abroad or in the UK, require financial support and, consequently, to provide such financial support to the Lord's servants as funds permit.

What is Salvation

Usually explained as deliverance from the power and penalty of sin.
Salvation is deliverance from danger or suffering. The word carries the idea of victory, health, or preservation. Sometimes, the Bible uses the words saved or salvation to refer to temporal, physical deliverance, such as Paul’s deliverance from prison (Philippians 1:19). Only God can remove sin and deliver us from sin’s penalty (2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:5).

Salvation is God’s grace. It is the gift of freedom from our sins that Jesus made possible by taking the punishment for our sins on the cross.

Through this gift, 1 John 1:9 promises that “If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

This is one of the most important promises of Scripture; it gives us freedom and hope for the future. God is faithful and daily invites us to find new life in response to that faithfulness.

What Does Baptism Mean

When we enter the waters of baptism, we’re proclaiming the gospel message. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and lives again. By joining in baptism, we’re identifying ourselves with Him. Romans 6:4 says we have been buried with Him through baptism into death. We’re now dead to the power of sin. Being raised up out of the water expresses our new life in Christ and our union with Him.

Baptism required plenty of water. (John 3:30).
Baptism requires going down into the water. (Acts 8:30)

Baptism means:
  • we have turned from the old life of sin to a new life in Jesus Christ
  • we are publicly identifying with the death, burial &resurrection of Christ
  • we are openly joining the ranks of those who believe in Christ

Sunday Worship

We meet at 10:30 on a Sunday for 'The Lord's Supper', where Bible-believing, born-again Christians who have been baptised by full immersion come together to remember our Lord Jesus Christ as He asked us to do. We then have a service at 12:00 for all the family and you are very welcome to join with us as we sing some songs and listen to a message from the Bible, usually given by a visiting preacher. At 6:30pm we meet again for our Bible teaching service which is held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. On the 2nd Sunday, we have an informal Bible study in the church.

What to Expect When You Visit

From your first visit in Albert Hall Evangelical Church you can meet very nice & friendly people.
Our congregation includes people from across the age ranges and includes some young families. As a result, we have a variety of services, clubs and facilities to meet the needs of all those who attend, from the oldest to the youngest.
We also have special events on every so often so please check back often.

Praise & Worship
At Albert Hall we have a wide range of members, each with their own preferred styles of music and styles of praising. As a result some weeks that you come to church you can worship along to some very new praise songs from the other side of the world whilst other weeks some ‘golden oldies’ from back in the day – we try to cater for everyone.

If you don’t know a song, don’t worry about it, all of the words appear on the screen and all of the tunes are very easy to pick up. Nobody’s going to ask you to sing a solo or to do a dance so just relax. We are blessed to have gifted musicians who help us as we worship.

Message
Every week we hear a message from the Bible. They are delivered by members of the Church and some guest speakers. These are relevant, interesting and are delivered in a challenging and stimulating manner.

What To Wear
Come as you are. There really isn’t a dress code – you can decide how smart or casual you want to be. Basically just relax and be yourself.
